Your Children can speak like Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton
Kevin Warwood
We are sitting amazed at the oratory skills of Barack Obama and of Hillary Clinton in their head on race for the US Democratic nomination. The skills these two are showing in their speaking opportunities are well developed and and are pulling audiences together. Have you ever wondered how they got to be that good? Have you ever wondered what unique forces of nature combined to create these two skilled people, and have you ever wondered what sort of upbringing they had to herd them to where they had no choice but to be the leaders they are? I do. I also want some of that for my kids.
I believe that if our kids have the exposure to some of the enviromental things that Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have had, then our kids will be great leaders and great speakers one day. Our kids will be better people, they will be more influential and they will be liked by their peers and colleagues. Of course we generally cant do much about our kids genes, but even that is changing now but that is a whole other conversation.
I have been a member of a Toastmasters Club for many years, and the one thing I have learnt from being exposed to the 'forced' learning and confidence building, is that anyone can become a great speaker with time and tuition. They can also become a great leader, as leadership skills can be learnt. It all depends on what we as parents do to help our offspring.
I believe that as parents, it is a very responsible thing to do, to have our kids join a Young Speakers Club. This is a Club that is set up to provide that very exposure to speaking skills and to leadership skills that will make our kids better people, more influential people and to be better grown ups.
Young Speakers also helps parents as parents can start Clubs in their own neighbourhoods. Imagine the bonding between your kids and you as you set up a Club that they can belong to, to improve themselves. Everybody wins!
