Picking the Perfect Gift for the Best Man
Dave T Poon
When weddings come around, the planning takes months, even years just to prepare everything. All the little details, from the color of the ribbon of the flower arrangements to the smell of the venue, and even to the cocktails served at the reception area are all subjects of crucial decision-making. These things will dictate just how perfect the affair will be for the bride and groom. But aside from the aesthetic value of the event, one of the most important decisions to make is the tokens of appreciation that will be given away after the event. These are the items that people will truly hold on to after the wedding, and just at the sight of them make the receivers commemorate the joy and happiness shared together during the event.
This thought is especially important when it comes to selecting the perfect gift for the Best Man. The groom owes this person a lot of special memories and thus, he deserves a special treat at the end. So how exactly can the couple show their appreciation for him?
The most common mistake that couples make is to instantly follow what the soon to be husband thinks should be the gift. Since they are both guys and they have had a close bond already, it is always assumed that the first gift that pops into the grooms head is the right one. Unfortunately, the right gift should be consistent also with the way the wedding is being planned. It is the joining of two people; therefore, there should be a joint and mutual decision on what gift to gift. This is because after the wedding, the Best Man is not only supposed to continue a relationship with the man, but will also have to include he woman and the family. So in order to give a sincere gift, then one should listen to the suggestions of the new wife as well.
And this process of selecting gifts shouldnt be done haphazardly but part of the planning process. After all, the Best Man is an individual and is set apart from the groomsmen and the other guests. This is the reason why he should receive something which he wants and something different also from everybody else. And in order to do that, time and energy must be put into the gift selection. True, this sounds like extra effort to the already busy couple-to-be, but the guarantee that appreciation will be received in the end is worth the trouble.
