Product Info: Nokia N81

Richard Smith

The Nokia N81 isn't so much about flash and style as it is about function, and its design reflects that idea. Sturdy and stout, we wouldn't necessarily The N81 as sexy, but the lacquered black finish is eye-catching and attractive enough. The device measures 4 inches tall by 1.9 inches wide Key Features

N81 with Expandable Memory N81 8GB with 8 Gbytes of Internal flash Memory WLAN Technology 3G Technology 2.4 Inch QVGA 16 Million Colour Screen 2 Megapixel Camera with 20 x Digital Zoom & Flash Music Player with Music & Volume Keys

Design-; By 0.7 inch deep and weighs 4.9 ounces, so it'll slip into a pants pocket but has a bit of heft and bulk to it. Camera button. There is no auto focus on the 2-megapixel camera of the Nokia N81. That means you canメt hold the camera button halfway to focus on your subject. This means snapping pictures is really quick, but donメt expect the same quality from the Nokia N95 with autofocus. As the Nokia N95, the Nokia N81 has been optimised for Nokia's Ovi web portal, which offers music, games, videos and GPS maps for download. You will also be able to store photos on the portal once it's fully launched.

It is a stylish phone, though, thanks to its glossy black finish and cool slider design. The keypad is large and flat with very thin lines separating the rows. They keys have no texture at all, but surprisingly texting on this device is a very pleasant experience, my benchmark being the N95 which has been my workhorse for the past few months. The only negative aspect is the light bleeding (below) around the edges of the keypad. It makes a device which already feels cheap, look cheap
