Which Diet Products are Best?

Ivan Cuxeva Jr

Weight loss products come in many shapes, colors and sizes but how do you determine which one is the best solution for you? When it comes to weight loss you have the option of trying over-the-counter products or prescription diet pills. Often times, prescription pills are given to people who have serious medical conditions which may affect vital organs (i.e. the heart) There are also many side effects related to these prescription medicaments which is why it should only be taken under professional supervision.

Over-the-counter drugs are good for starters but not all of them may be good for you, lets take a look at the options you may find: Chromium: This product claims to help you reduce body fat and build muscle, an independent study by a reputable clinic shows that this pill is relatively safe but there is no empirical evidence to substantiate the claims.

Bitter Orange: It claims to increase the number of calories burned by your body. Studies show that the product is suggested as an Ephedra substitute however it may cause similar side effects experienced by people who have taken Ephedra, which are not good.

Ephedra: Claims to decrease appetite. Due to the many side effects patients have experienced this pill is not recommended and should be avoided at all costs, studies have shown that it can cause high blood pressure, heart rate irregularities, sleeplessness, seizures, heart attacks, strokes and even death. Luckily this product has been banned from the diet pill market place so you shouldn't find it at stores, if you do happen to cross paths with this product do not take it.

Green Tea Extract: Claims to decrease your appetite, increase your metabolism and burn more calories. Studies show that there is very limited evidence to support the claims, it can cause vomiting, bloating, indigestion and diarrhea.

Hoodia: This particular product is based on a cactus that is native to the Kalahari Desert in Africa. Natives eat this cactus in order to reduce their hunger during long hunts, independent studies have shown that Hoodia influences the part of the brain which controls or regulates hunger which is why this is one of the best products available in the market today.

As you see there are several options when it comes to over-the-counter weight loss products, not all of them have been listed here, before taking any diet pill you should run your own independent research and then contact your physician about it in order to get a second and professional opinion. Diet pills such as Hoodia are great to help you regulate your appetite which has a direct impact on the amount of fat you gain on a daily basis.
