How To Write Instructional Articles

An instructional article is one in which the author attempts to explain how to perform a task. Many people are in need of some simple information when they have to get a job done. Examples of these types of articles are steps to clean a house, fix a car, bake a cake, or even how to tie a man's tie.
Of course, the author should try to keep the steps or instructions in the correct order and make the terminology easy to understand. Write in an easy to understand manner and use the same language you speak to others in. Remember that you are trying to explain something to the reader and not confuse them.
Avoid mispellings and acronyms. Use a little humour. Numbering the steps or using bullet points to emphasize the steps may be helpful. Be certain you do not leave out any steps as this can throw your reader off track. Be careful to warn of any hazards that may exist. Make your opening paragraph explain the job that the article is there to explain. Then, lay out the steps or instructions. Use plenty of detail. If neccessary, provide a few links to more information to help the reader.
Adding a group of images is a real benefit as is a video. If you cannot create your own video, do a search on YouTube.com for a suitable one. They are quite easy to embed.
People are looking online for directions to just about anything and everything. If you are looking for topics, just check out the forums. One of the hottest areas is how to build websites and how to set up everything from hosting to email. The demand is great.
Instructional articles can attract plenty of readers to your website. Submitting these articles to directories is a great way to get traffic to your site. You can easily research most topics while online. Just be sure to write your own and you will be pleased with the results.
