Important Gas saving tips that you never knew about

Vince Martela

1. Check the fuel cap of your vehicle because a lot of gas can be lost because of evaporation. This is especially a problem with older cars, the older vehicles usually have a higher evaporation rate.

2. Look for a cooler place to park your car, if the weather is hot, look for a spot under the shade, this will minimize the amount of fuel that will evaporate.

3. Don't overfill the gas tank. When the gas tank is topped off, some gas might spill out of your tank as it warms up. Most physical matters expand in heat, and shrink in cold. It's a simple rule of physics

4. Park your car in a way that you will be able to get out of the parking spot in forward gear, try to avoid maneuvers in reverse gear in order to save gas.

5. Purchase gas during the cooler times of day .Earlier morning and the late evening are good periods for purchasing gasoline. This is one of the more important gas saving tips. In the time of the day when the temperature is cooler the gasoline is denser. Gas shrinks when the temperature is cold and expands when the temperature is hot. Since gas pumps measure the volume of gasoline and not the density, you pay for the volume of fuel that is inserted to your vehicle, thus you buy more gas for the same amount of money when fueling up on car in colder weather than in warmer weather.

6. Try to avoid driving on uneven surfaces and bad types of road. Driving on these kinds of road can significantly increase fuel consumption. Try to choose high quality tarmac road when possible.

7. Install a water fuel cell in your car. This is maybe the best way to get a better fuel economy. By installing a water fuel cell, your engine partially runs on water, thus siginificantly reducing the gas consumption. Adding a water fuel cell is a very simple process and can be done using a 'do it yourself' kit. Do find out how to do this visit www.caronwater.org
