The Basics of Marketing With Articles

Kale McClelland

Do you want your newly published or about-to-be-published website to be packed with traffic from day one? Of course you do, because traffic is the soul of any website. There are many methods of generating traffic, and one very easy, yet effective, method is article marketing.

Article marketing is writing original, informative articles that revolve around your website's content, and then publishing them on special directories (called reprint directories). These reprint directories then host the articles and any website seeking content can pick them up from these directories and publish them without making any alterations.

So, how do these articles get you more traffic? The trick lies in adding a small resource box at the end of each article that links back to your website. So, when your article (along with the resource box) is published on many different sites, they automatically link back to you, increasing your search engine page rank. Soon, you will find your website figuring in the top search engine page results, and every website that gets up there receives massive traffic.

It is absolutely essential that the content created by you is classified as original. Without original content the search engines will not acknowledge the article. Your articles also need to have keywords in order to generate traffic to the article itself. This makes the content more appealing both to people placing it on their website and to the search engines themselves.

Here are some more pointers on how to write good articles:

1. Make your article comfortable to read. People do not want to read something that goes on forever and ever but they also want to obtain decent information. The average acceptable length is between 5-600 words.

2. As stated above, it must be original and informative. When a website owner reads your article, he must exclaim, "Hey, this is good stuff. I sure could use this piece on my website!"

3. Keywords are necessary so be sure to research which ones are going to be of the most value to your work.

4. The article must feature a friendly, conversational tone - just like you are talking to the reader.

5. Use simple, everyday language.

6. Perfect grammar, please!

7. The title is what you use to catch your reader and get them interested in reading your article so make sure it is something that draws attention.

8. The resource box must be expertly written. It must give the impression that the writer is a domain expert and is willing to help out with more information, and all the reader has to do is click on his link to get this help.

If you are not a writer, then do not attempt to write your content. Outsource it to a professional freelancer. There are many freelance websites where you can hire one - just check the freelancer's writing samples and ratings before you allot the work to him. Good luck!
