Gun Safes - Protection is the Key

Joel Brandon

You should always evaluate the total utility we are deriving by purchasing a particular gun safe, and make the investment accordingly. Hence, before purchasing a safe, you should decide by answering the following questions and choose your actions accordingly.

Keys or Lock Codes?

When you choose a safe that needs a key to open it, you should remember, that the keys of the safe need equal protection as compared to the safe, whereas the code just needs to be memorized by the operator, and hence there is no chance of misplacing, or any kind of problems in opening the safe. This is why, the safes which come with rotating code locks cost more compared to those gun safes which are operated with keys.

The Hiding place

Safes should always be kept in a place which is not ordinarily visible. However it should be hidden in a place where the owner can reach quickly, easily in times of an emergency. There are two kinds of safe. Wall safes and Ground safes. Wall safes are the ones that are embedded in a wall. They can be hidden behind a painting, or wallpaper or even curtains. These safes have longer lasting life, compared to normal gun safes.

Ground Gun Safes

These safes have to be drilled or fixed to the ground, and just like the wall safes, on the door is visible. The ground safes should be can be hidden by foot mats, beds, closets, etc.

Normal Safes

These safes are kept like small boxes and are used when portability is a concern. They are generally small in size, and can be carried from one place to another. Such safes should always be made of higher quality steel, which is thick enough to provide all kind of protection.
