Morbid obesity is a clinically severe obesity or extreme obesity; it is a chronic disease. If compared with Alzheimers disease it is over twice the size of the total population with Alzheimers disease. There are a large number of people caused by this disease. For example, if the entire morbidly obese population lived in one state, it would be the 12th state in population. The health effects that are attached with morbid obesity are numerous and can be disabling. Sometimes, individuals with morbid obesity suffer with more than one health effect. It creates a situation that can shorten life span and negatively impact quality of life.

Causes

Contributing Factors: The exact causes of severe obesity are still unknown. There are many factors that can contribute in the development of obesity and that are genetic, hereditary, environmental, and metabolic and eating disorders. There are also certain medical conditions that may result in obesity like intake of steroids and hypothyroidism.

Genetic Factors: Many surveys conclude that genes play an important role in your tendency to gain excess weight. The bodyweight of adopted children shows no correlation with the body weight of their parents, who feed them and teach them how to eat. The weight concerned with their genetic parents.

Environmental Factors: Some of the environmental factors are eating fast food, long days sitting at a desk.

Surgery for morbid obesity

Very few people can be unaware that being overweight is a bad thing. It contributes to a range of conditions most of us that we would wish to avoid, including heart disease, stroke, diabetes, hypertension, cancer, arthritis, and asthma. Diet and regular practice of exercise are the obvious ways that can help in that condition. In some cases anti-obesity drugs can also prove helpful.
