Know the Facts about Body Odor
Tom Smith
Body odor is the smell that results when bacteria is present on the body. Perspiration (or sweat,) is generally odorless, though it has often been blamed for body odor. Sweat seems to cause body odor because bacteria multiplies significantly when it mixes with perspiration. Sweat is generally odorless. Most of the times, it is the bacterial disintegration of sweat of both the types that produces odor. It is the Apocrine sweat that causes more of body odor.
To stop body odor, the need is to remove sweat as it accumulates on the skin and to reduce bacteria that thrives on the sweat and produces odor. Use of a good anti bacterial soap can reduce bacteria to a substantial extent. Those who are more troubled by this problem of body odor also use antiperspirants. As antiperspirants reduce the amount of sweat considerably, the problem of body odor is taken care of.
The social repercussions of body odor have resulted in the development of numerous chemical hygiene products promising to eliminate the problem. But most deodorants only mask the smell, and antiperspirants block the sweat glands, thereby interfering with the body's cooling mechanism.
To control the odor, soak your feet several times a week in one-third cup of apple cider vinegar added to a small pan of warm water.Mix one teaspoon with one or two gallons of water in a container with Alum , and soak your feet for 30 minutes. After, rinse with clear water; repeat after four times.
Some of the common reasons for having body odor are improper hygiene, like not having a proper bath or using dry clean clothes. You might be suffering from skin problems which have to be treated before you start pouring chemicals on yourself by use of perfume, deodorants and body wash. It can be also associated with genetic conditions, to be consulted with the doctor.
The best way to correct this problem is to unzip the fabric and remove the foam. Then literally "soak" the foam with the odor neutralizer. Let it sop it up like a sponge. Once it is soaked, let the solution stay in the foam for a few minutes, and then squeeze it out - just like you would squeeze the water out of a sponge.
There are natural products on the market that will eliminate the production of bacteria on the body, and effectively will eliminate body odor, but it will not stop the sweating. Even if you could eliminate the body odor by eliminating the bacteria, most people would want to eliminate the excessive sweating.
Another way to help diminish strong feminine odor is to cleanse the area several times a day. Some women just need to be more prudent about washing their feminine area. You don't have to carry a washcloth and a bar of soap in your handbag. There are discreet feminine wipes that will help you feel and smell fresher instantly.
To help prevent body odor, a person should eat lots of fruits and vegetables (especially raw), and whole grains. A high fiber diet generally aids in the digestion process. Drink at least 6 to 8 glasses of water a day to help keep the kidneys clear and aid in the detoxification process. Some vitamins and herbs are considered helpful in the prevention of body odor.
