Confessions of a Cheesecake - aholic

Confessions of a Cheesecake - aholic By Liz Gilbert

I have a confession to make. Ok, so sometimes, I'm not proud of this, but I love cheesecake, and yes, I am a cheesecake - aholic. Yeah, I know there are way worse addictions to have, but mine is important too.

I mean, what and I supposed to do when I go to a restaurant? As the waiter/waitress is clearing you dinner plates they always ask, "Did you leave any room for dessert?" And if I was good, I would say, "No, I'm stuffed, everything was so good." But being of cheesecake - aholic, I can't say those simple little seven words. Even when it's the truth.

Instead, I find myself, grabbing the dessert menu and finding the best looking cheesecake on the menu and ordering it, sometimes two if I can't decide. Trust me, this is not flattering when you're on a first date. I have a lot of first dates. Hmm, I wonder if there's a connection&.

Anyway, as much as I love eating cheesecake, I love making it even more. Everyone I know gets a cheesecake for their birthday, and at the holidays. I always go out and buy those adorable holiday plates or tins, and make over a dozen different cheesecakes for Christmas and Thanksgiving presents.

I think my friends and family like them though. I mean they never last a full day. I never have to worry about wrapping one of my cheesecakes back up. A few of my friends have even started making requests ahead of time.

I love going online and searching for good new recipe ideas, and when I got to the book store, I always end up in the recipe section, sitting on the floor with like five dessert cookbooks open on the floor around me.

I know, I'm addicted, but is that really a bad thing?

I read somewhere that the ancient Egyptians believed that when they died, to get into heaven they had to answer 2 questions. Did you have joy in your life? And Did you bring joy to others around you?

If you've ever tasted that perfect dessert, that one that fills your whole body with contentedness, you know you've felt joy.

And when I make my cheesecakes for other people, I'm spreading that joy. When I see someone's face, as they take a bite into one of my cheesecakes, I know why I was put on earth.

How many people can say that? I have found my purpose in life, and I can make people happy. What more can a girl ask for? Well, maybe a good treadmill. After all, you have to have some way to work off all that goodness somehow.

I can across this great cheesecake recipe website recently. www.best-cheesecake-recipes-ever.com They've got a lot of great recipes, things I never imagined before. I can't wait to try them all out. Especially the, You Can Pecan Cheesecake and the Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cheesecake. Mmmm, those sound good.

Well, I guess I've rambled on long enough. If you take away anything from this article, remember Cheesecake = Joy. This has been the confession of a cheesecake - aholic, back to the kitchen to make more cheesecake!
