The Group is centered on a trio that consists of Friends Chris Wink, Matt Goldman and Phil Stanton. The idea of making a group initiated during the 1980s in New York City. In the beginning the group started appearing on the streets in Blue Man regalia to attract the public towards their work but a much better idea struck them when they staged unusual events as The Funeral For the 80s, and Tom Murrin's The Alien Comic, in "The CLUB" at La MaMa Experimental Theater Club. This gained them with much appreciation as the society wanted to get freed from the pent up feelings of frustration and anxiety, which was best.
The artistic director of The club saw them performing and assigned the Blue Man Group to create a full-length show. That result in Tubes that came in The New York Times NYC and critic Stephen Holden reviewed it. The Blue Man Group's popularity kept multiplying and it won CMP an Obie Award and also Lucille Lortel Award and these awards take the producers to take the show off board. The show Tubes then opened at Astro Place Theatre.
