The BMW 3 Series Gets Ahead and Stays There
Jimmy M Richard
The BMW 3 Series has for long been the top selling premium vehicle in the world. With the 2008 model, it has furthered the distance between itself and its competition.
Making this possible is a host of new features on the 2008 BMW 3 Series. The new innovations include the interior that is more refreshed and refined than ever before; there have been significant, specific modifications in the design; the optional operating concept BMW iDrive gets added features; BMW ConnectedDrive offers new services provided by a revised range of engines; and improvements have been carried out in areas of drive technology, comfort, and safety as well. These changes have been carried out on both the new BMW 3 Series Sedan and the new BMW 3 Series Touring.
The factors that make a drive on the 3 Series unique are its chassis technology, which evens out most surfaces; a well-proportioned axle load distribution; a rear-wheel drive; and exceptional steering precision.
Innovation gets carried over to other vital areas of the engine of the 2008 BMW 3 Series to reduce pollution and enhance fuel economy. BMWs EfficientDynamics, a concept incorporated into the new BMW 3 Series, makes the engine consume lesser fuel and lowers the exhaust emission levels in each of the ten engine variations this model comes with, compared to its nearest competition in the premium class.
The BMW xDrive also sees improvement in its technology. This electronically controlled intelligent all-wheel drive system has been further optimized to work by variably distributing the drive force between front and rear wheels to offer enhanced driving dynamics and ride stability and traction. It can now be combined with five engine types. The new BMW 320d xDrive is available in both Sedan and Touring models with this feature.
The BMW 318d sets the standard for fuel consumption by leaping ahead in its class. It offers a highest-in-segment mileage of nearly 60 mpg. This model is available with a 6-speed automatic transmission for this year. In addition to the launch of the new BMW 3 Series Sedan and the new BMW 3 Series Touring, BMW will also present a new 7-speed sports automatic transmission with double clutch for the Coup← and the Convertible versions of the 3 Series. This feature fosters further improved acceleration in the models in this series, the BMW 335i Coup← and BMW 335i Convertible, and is more dynamic due to the double clutch and shift technology that allows uninterrupted traction.
