In the game of World of Warcrafts, sometimes the need of combining several actions in order to execute a single keystroke arises. Thus to perform a single function with the help of the various other actions, the method of macro is used. Macros can be used variedly for a single player. You can use 18 macros for all your characters on a single server within a single account. Also, you can use 18 other macros that are available for each of your characters specifically. Hence in total, there are 36 macros that each of the characters can access when needed. Technically speaking, a macro can also be defined as a list of slash commands.
Using the macros, these slash commands can be used whenever required from the action buttons. Also some of the macros can be used at the same time. This means that when you press the button, the macro will immediately run each of the commands right from the start to the end before giving the control back to the game. These commands are written exactly in a manner as messages are typed in a chat box.
But while using a macro there is one minor concern that is, there is no way that the player can stop for a minute or even wait without freezing the game. But there are certain addons which can provide a method which will issue a command later. These addons can be used only for the benign functions like emotes, chatting and also while giving commands to the other addons in the game.
Apart from the macros that are available on the internet, you can also possibly make your own personal macros which will perform any function assigned by you at the click of a button.
