Is Online Marketing For You?

TJ Philpott

Even if you only use your computer to open email you're familiar with online marketing. Those emails you get from banks about services they offer, or perhaps those from credit card companies offering rewards to use your card more often are just examples of corporate America using the internet to solicit your business.

Over the last 10 years the internet has opened up an entirely new and dynamic portal thru which home based businesses can access consumers on a global basis. This access can be focused down to a local level or as widespread as a global market. To the aspiring entrepreneur the internet is literally like being handed the keys to the vault if used correctly.

When you consider the vastness of the internet you come to understand the potential customer base that exists out there for any size company. This is why this medium is the popular choice for some many home based businesses. On a global scale we're talking 6 billion plus people to market our goods, services or ideas to. With a considerable percentage of the worlds population accessing the net on a daily basis, business opportunities are literally 'boundless' for anyone who has the 'drive' to be their own boss.

What about the costs relative to an internet based business? Well comparing it to a 'off line' business there's virtually little comparison. An internet business has no 'brick and mortar' costs such as building, property taxes, utilities, etc. Additionally there are usually no employee expenses to be considered since an internet based business can easily be automated thru the use of various software programs available. Product development, delivery, order processing, customer follow up, and even customer satisfaction polls can be completed on an automated level using software programs. What it all eventually comes down to is your ability to effectively market your business over the internet. As mentioned earlier the internet is in fact a dynamic portal in which to access a large volume of potential customers&&..even globally! The dynamics of the internet are exactly that. They're constantly evolving and improving, and many times reinventing themselves. Are you up to the task? You may 'master' the current marketing strategies but as they evolve into something totally different are you also willing to do so?

Internet marketing is more about 'promoting' and less about the actual product you have for sale.

Be it blogging, PPC, social sites, videos, free ads, articles, and so on, marketing on the internet continues to evolve. As public reaction/response to current advertising approaches shifts so do the marketing strategies we utilize. The internet is highly sensitive to the users needs and resultantly reacts quickly to a change in preferences. To know this, accept this, and be willing to change accordingly will only position you for success in an ever changing but highly lucrative world of online marketing. To the winner go the spoils.
