Should home working entrepreneurs that write articles be considered artists?
Entrepreneurs with a work at home business frequently rely on writing articles to generate traffic to their websites. The practice is known as Article Marketing and has become so popular that every other working from home guru offers a related service, or recommends starting its practice in some form. After a quick thought some could consider it an easy task. What could be needed besides a topic, some key words, a few strokes, and submitting? By taking the main topic, throwing in some key words in the frying pan of your imagination, striking down on the keyboard, and submitting the final product to an article directory; earning extra income should be almost guaranteed. It gives the impression like everybody could do it without further skills or qualities necessary, but novice entrepreneurs following guru advice are discovering that something is missing, and that the art of practicing doesnt convert into the practicing of art , much less does it materialize into the promised extra income.
The fact that only a few article writers are considered to have reached the status of artist in the online community brings up the question of whether this achievement can be accomplished just by practice. No doubt that practice will improve the technique and hone the skills, but could any form of continuous practice writing articles, elevate its writer to become an artist, or are some other qualities and characteristics needed from the writer himself?
There is a constant distinctiveness common to the nature of every artist, a passionate intensity of vision. Unless the vision is passionately intense the artist will not be moved to transmit it. He will not be inconvenienced by it; and the motive to pass it on will thus not exist.
Any kind of artist works under the stress of vision. No mans vision can draw him towards material which repels him, the fact is obvious. Obviously, whatever kind of subject the home working artist is writing an article about, he has been charmed and seduced by it, he is under its spell, that is, he has seen vision in it. He could have no other reason for writing about it. He may see a strange sort of vision; he may, indeed he does, see a sort of vision that nobody has quite seen before; he may see a sort of vision that none save a few odd spirits ever will or can be made to see. But he does see vision. To say, after reading a business article which has held you, that the author has no sense of vision, is inept. The mere fact that you read paragraph after paragraph with interest is an answer to the criticism. Every fine emotion produced in the reader by the article has been, and must have been, previously felt by the article writer, but in a far greater degree.
After vision mixes with passion inside the mind of any working from home entrepreneur it becomes the most natural accelerator for the flow of creative force. Its this flow that makes him write articles with a strange sort of beauty. This flow is what elevates practice to art, and every creative artist has it, in his degree. He is an artist because he has it.
A writer that possesses this art and practices it, has a powerful tool to earn extra income. This is the practice of the art for the article writer. He has selected his subject; he has drenched himself in his topic. He has laid down the main features of the design. The living embryo is there, and waits to be developed into full organic structure. Whence and how does the home working article writer obtain the vital tissue which must be his material?
The answer is that he digs it out of himself. He is an artist.
