Samsung Tocco Review New Generation of Touchscreens

Caroline Telford

With technological advances occurring seemingly everyday, the mobile phones of tomorrow seem destined to towards touchscreens. Where once upon a time, touchscreens were undependable, unwieldly and damage prone, today the technology seems better prepared for a new generation of touchscreen phones to take center stage. Make no mistake, the latest range of touchscreen phones, Samsung Tocco included, are nothing like their predecessors, and instead offer reliability while maintaining the 'cool factor' that touchscreens are known for.

Features of the Samsung Tocco

For a phone that is engineered around the touchscreen, it seems logical to discuss it first and foremost among the other features that it sports. Firstly, it should be mentioned that due to the fact that it does not require a keypad, the Tocco is able to pack together other features while retaining a slim, sleek, and streamlined look to it. Also, the display is fairly large, at 2.8 inches, but there are larger in the line of touchphones available. By issuing subtle vibrations on each key-press, the Tocco tackles one of the previous problems that plagued touchscreens in an elegant fashion. Of course, there is a 5.0 megapixel camera packaged along within the mobile phone, however Samsung has thrown in some extras that are intriguing to say the very least. What stands out most of all is the latest Smile Shot feature that claims, mind-bogglingly, to be able to tell when the subject of a photograph is smiling and take advantage of that one single moment to capture the image. Also, as conventionally available, there are the autofocus, LED flash and zoom features. Topping up the entire package are the predictable set of extras. A music player that plays great quality music, huge internal memory at 240MB as well as microSD capability, and HSDPA that offers high speed 3G downloads.

A Platform for Media

One of the great advantages of the new generation touchscreen phones is their ability to act as a platform for every kind of media. Not only does the Samsung Tocco, by merit of its large and high definition screen, display the images captured by the 5.0 megapixel phone to full extent, but it also allows for incredible web surfing ability. No need to compromise style for functionality, the Tocco does it all, with possibly the sole disadvantage being the fact that sending text messages can take a bit of getting used to. Every extra that could be desired comes included however, and there are very few regards in which one would expect the Samsung Tocco to be surpassed.

Indeed, if in the market for a touchscreen mobile phone, or even simply interested in looking them up further, the Samsung Tocco is one of the better mobile phone deals that are available in the touchscreen range. As such things are fast appearing to be on the way to becoming the future norm of all mobile phones, it would not be amiss to start looking for a good contract that offers them, or start saving up.
