Sony Ericsson C702 Review
Caroline Telford
What is generally expected from mid level phone is stability, and basic, but not minimal, features. No one expects a mid range phone to perform on par with the latest high end phone that costs three times as much or more, but most would like it if they had some features and all around good quality. In this, the Sony Ericsson C702 lives up to, and slightly exceeds, expectations. Sweetening the pot is an 'extra' that is useful enough to interest most anyone.
Features of the Sony Ericsson C702
Essentially, the Sony Ericsson C702 is a complete mobile phone in itself. By virtue of its 3.2 megapixel camera, it can take great pictures that are further enhanced by the quality of the additional features such as the face detection autofocus and LED flash. Basically, good quality images can be captured regardless of the situation, and while it may not be the whopping 5 megapixels of resolution that some other cameras offer, it is still high enough at 3.2 megapixels that it stands on its own. However, the true feature of the phone that stands out is its GPS Google Maps location feature. Not only does this combine brilliantly when taking photographs, and add location information tags to every picture taken, but it also includes the guidance feature to provide directions to and from anywhere at any time. These features are the reason why many love GPS assists so much, and certainly having them on a mobile phone adds even further depth of convenience. Extra storage on top of the 150 MB of internal memory takes the form of either the Memory Stick Micro or Memory Stick Pro, making it a possible 4GB additional storage. Naturally there is an included media player that performs decently and has an FM radio included. In terms of 3G connectivity, the Sony Ericsson C702 includes HSDPA technology for that 3.5G-style speeds that are slowly becoming a must.
Average Phone with Extraordinary Extras
Designed to be an average phone for average mobile phone users, it should really be known as an average phone that somehow has extraordinary extras included. On the whole, the quality of the camera is much better than would be offered by similar models in the range, and the GPS technology just further adds to the overall convenience that the phone offers. Really, this particular one-in-a-million out of the many, many mobile phone deals out there is a gem that cannot, and should not, be ignored.
By merit of a lethally interesting mix of features that combine together in a stable and easy to use mobile phone, the end result that is the Sony Ericsson C702 can stand on its own against all other mobile phones in its range, and a few above its range too. Whether a casual user looking for a mobile phone with some useable features, or a heavy user wanting something special, this mobile phone model truly crosses borders and deserves a look from anyone, irrespective of type.
