Out With The Old, In With The New

Jeffrey Solochek

When I was growing up everybody had a TV with maybe 5 or 6 channels. There wasn't anything known as cable TV. At my house we got channels 4, 6, 10, 12 and 18. Later on we also got channel 17 which was Fox TV. I can remember when I first heard about HBO which was a box that only got you HBO and nothing else. That privelage would cost a household maybe $50.

Nowadays with computers and the internet you can get World TV right on your PC. A Cable connection in you house might get you several hundred stations but with World TV you can get thousands of stations right on your PC. No more monthly cable bills that cost you $100 per month. With World TV yopu pay a onetime fee of maybe $50 and thats it.

When the year 2009 hits us we will no longer be able to get a signal with a pair of rabbit ears. Everyone will either have World TV on their PC or Digital TV through their cable company. You can see people selling Digiyal converters to convert your old TV but the majority of people will be buying these new digital TV's.

Imagine being able to create a spreadsheet on your PC and to also be watching a great movie on your PC. This future is right around the corner. Digital TV will have less of a bandwidth than regular TV signals. Rabbit ears are now a thing of the past. I hear that with World TV we will have a choice of of over 6,000 stations. Growing up it was easy to choose one from 5 stations. Imagine the choice of finding one out of 6,000.

The only suggestion I have regarding Woeld TV is having more than just one monitor on your computer. You could have your applications on one monitor and watch TV on another monitor. The futre is bringing so many inovations to us it is just so incredible.
