Mentored Writing School Challenges Traditional System Today Ms. Deborah Owen of Media, Inc., announced the opening of Creative Writing Institute. Although registration is now open, the school officially commences classes on October 5, 2008. Due to its non-profit status and fully mentored staff, the school will be a boon to both distressed and underprivileged students as it offers a new style of writing education at a fraction of the price.
It will be interesting to see how the new writing school fares against its competitors and how it is accepted in the educational community as Ms. Owen and her mentors openly challenge the traditional system.
We live in a day of brainwashing, said Mrs. Owen, CEO and Founder. Both Uncle Sam and society would have us believe that only traditional schools should teach the populace. I beg to differ. The half million parents who are home schooling their children beg to differ also. Their children excel above traditionally taught students. Dont misunderstand me. Ive known a lot of very good teachers over the years, but they have an almost impossible job of educating latchkey children. The teacher has no authority any more. Without authority, you have mayhem.
In some places, mentoring is much more common. In those societies, the mentors enjoy a high position and are regarded as equals with traditional teachers. They mingle freely with lawyers, doctors and other professionals in social settings. The world is full of gifted people whose life experiences and education qualify them for mentoring positions. Todays society may need to do a retake on its earlier days and go back to using the oldest existing tool in education mentors.
Creative Writing Institute proudly presents a group of very gifted, aggressive mentors whose main desire is to reach writing students. They will be available on a daily basis to answer their students questions, and they will walk with the students as they plod through the maze of journalistic rules and regulations.
