Managing Your Life: Just In Time Using These 10 Proven Ways
Thomas Turner
For any business person, the concept of time management is an important one. The ability to capitalize on the time you have is proportionate to your success and productivity. While there are only 24 hours in a day, you cannot alter time but rather how you use that time. Here are some tips for your consideration.
1. Start Tracking Activities
Write and keep an activities log. Document when you start and finish a task. See how long it took you to get through it. How long should have taken you? Do those times match up? This helps to see where all that wasted time is going. This way you know where it's all going to, and practice being focused on the task at hand.
2. Make Rules and Follow Them
Once you have identified the things that drain you of available time, set goals to alleviate the problem. For example, make a goal that you will not accept personal calls during work hours. You will probably have more than one area that needs attention, but take them on one at a time and defeat them one on one.
3. Make a Set Schedule
Schedule your time out for the day. Set certain times for certain tasks. Leave enough time to get it done. Don't cut yourself short and cause yourself unreasonable stress. Notice when you get done, that way next time you need to accomplish the same task you know how long to schedule yourself.
4. Prioritize Your Tasks
Keep whats most important at the top of your schedule. Do those important tasks first. This helps reduce stress, knowing those urgent tasks have been done, and leaves you with a clear mind to focus and accomplish other tasks.
5. You Can Only Live One Life At a Time
Delegation is probably the most overlooked aspect of time management. Look over your task list and see what can be either removed or passed to somebody else so your time is freed up for the more urgent things.
6. Avoid Being Overwhelmed
Take big jobs and segment them into smaller parts. This makes them easier to manage and complete without seeming overwhelming.
7. Avoid Procrastination
Don't procrastinate. Just get it done. You'll see that it takes less time to get this dreaded task done than you thought it would and leave you time for other things. Plus, you will spend more time procrastinating than actually doing the dreaded task.
8. Sleep
An important ingredient is to get enough sleep and rest so you are able to concentrate and get things done in a timely manner.
9. Exercise
Exercise not only clears the mind, but also gets the blood flowing, and releases endorphins. It readies us for these daily tasks. So, whether you go to a gym, simply walk around the block, or even just do some basic stretches at home, it will help get other things done quicker.
10. Take Scheduled Breaks
Don't play superhero. Take breaks when needed to break up the monotony and give yourself a chance to think a moment. The results can be astounding.
