Creative Visualization: 6 Simple Steps To Help You Get What You Want
Thomas Turner
If you've ever doubted the power of the mind, you've probably not yet experienced the benefits of creative visualization. Basically creative visualization is the process of using your mind to bring into reality whatever is it you want in the world. Below are the steps you should follow in order to reap the rewards of this productive exercise.
1. Get Comfortable
You need to be in an extremely relaxed position so that you can clear your mind of everything else. Find a room or place in your home where you won't be bothered by any distractions or noise. If you choose a darker area, you'll probably feel more relaxed. Now sit down or stretch out on a bed, couch, chair, or any other comfortable surface.
2. Close Your Eyes and Relax
Next, you'll need to close your eyes so that you can start to feel more relaxed. Keep out any thoughts about stress, the day's activities, the things you still have to do and just focus on relaxing all of the parts of your body. You might want to practice some deep breathing techniques if you have a hard time freeing your mind.
3. Picture the Achievement of Your Goal
Before you start, you should have an idea of what you want to achieve through creative visualization. For example, maybe you want to land a better job. Once you've relaxed thoroughly, you should begin picturing that happening. Imagine getting the phone call for the interview, being amazing at the interview, and receiving the job offer you've wanted. Picture every step of the process in as much accuracy and detail as possible. The more realistic your imaging is the more likely you are to be successful at bringing this into being. Make sure you see yourself in these images, too.
4. Keep the Images Fresh in Your Mind
After step 3, you'll need to think of these images frequently. They need to become a daily commonality. The more you think about it the more it becomes a part of your life, and the less resistance there will be.
5. Stay Positive
The worst thing you can do is to begin thinking negatively. Your visualization isn't going to deliver its rewards immediately. The best things in life require some patience. However if you start losing patience and begin losing faith in the approach you could end up causing yourself a major setback. When you start sensing yourself becoming negative, think about your visualization again or doing some positive self-talk to chase away those bad thoughts.
6. Remain Open
Above all else, you have to be open to the way the universe will respond to your visualization. The job may not come the way you had expected to keep all of the doors open so that you can receive what you want without blocking the positive benefits of the visualization.
