Pumpkins and Jack-O-Lanterns
Fall is in the air, the nights are getting cooler and there is finally a break from the heat wave. I think this might be my favorite time of year. You are completely comfortable wearing a pair of jeans and a t-shirt.
It's not sticky, and you don't have any of that nasty pollen like you do in the spring. Yes, early fall is my favorite time of year.
The other good thing about fall is you get one of the best holidays, commercial America has ever invented. Everyone knows what I'm talking about, Halloween!
I mean households spend a bunch of money on candy; they buy costumes, and keep pumpkin farmers in business. It's great; I love this time of year.
One of the reasons why I love it so much is because I love pumpkins. It's so fun to carve up pumpkins, and as gross as it is, I love degutting them. It's so squishy, and so fun! It makes you feel like a kid again.
I love making faces for my pumpkins, giving them personalities. The site of jack-o-lanterns is a beautiful site, especially the flickering candles on the front stoop.
As a pumpkin lover, I went online this year to find out what I could make with pumpkin in it. I found this awesome site of Halloween recipes, with a whole bunch of really great pumpkin recipe ideas. I can make pumpkin pies, pumpkin juice, pumpkin bread, pumpkin muffins, and pumpkin seeds! All of which I'm going to do this year.
I started with the pumpkin chocolate chip muffins, and they were amazing! I brought them to work one Friday morning, and they were gone in seconds. I timed it, trust me. There wasn't one left in 10.7 seconds. Someone was trampled, the paramedics had to come, no I'm just kidding. No one was hurt, but they were seriously one in the blink of an eye.
The receptionist asked for the recipe, and I told her all about my new find, www.best-halloween-recipes-ever.com
The next week she brought in the pecan pumpkin bread, it went just as fast!
I can't wait to start my jack-o-lantern collection and make the fresh pumpkin pie and spicy roasted pumpkin seeds.
I'm counting down the days, until my church starts the annual pumpkin patch sale.
I'm also determined to grow my own pumpkin patch next year. I read a book when I was little about a boy that fed his pumpkin sugar water, and it grew into the biggest pumpkin ever! I'm dying to try it out for myself.
So everyone have a happy fall and a happy Halloween!
