Harry Potter Birthday

Harry Potter Birthday
My son loves Harry Potter, he was Harry for Halloween last year, he picked round glasses out the last time at the doctors, and I find him messing up his hair and putting my gel in it, to make it look like Harry's sometimes in the morning.
He's turning 11 this month, and is determined to have a Harry Potter themed birthday.
And how can I complain? Because of JK Rowling and Harry Potter, he's interested in reading like millions of other kids across the world. Like many parents I'm just glad that I've been able to tear him away from video games long enough to read a book.
So, for the last few weeks, my husband and I have been planning his Harry Potter birthday party.
My husband has been making wands for the party favors, we've called and gotten a bird guy to bring a few owls to the party and I've been searching the Internet for recipes to make.
He wants pumpkin juice, Butterbeer, chocolate frogs, and cauldron cakes. The chocolate frogs were the easiest, I found a frog mold on line, and I bought bricks of chocolate to melt and mold. The cauldron cakes were pretty easy to find a recipe for, but finding a pumpkin juice and Butterbeer recipe that the kids will actually drink was a bit harder.
I looked all over, making about a dozen different recipes, before I found one that he liked. I finally found this life saving site, www.best-halloween-recipes-ever.com.
My son has actually been drinking "pumpkin juice" every morning for breakfast this week. He loved it, and I'm so glad.
As a mother, you always want your children to be happy and the bonus of finding something they like that is healthy for them is always awesome.
I have trouble getting him to eat his vegetables at dinner, but he'll drink the pumpkin juice I made without incident.
The next step in planning the party will be costumes. My husband is a fairly big guy, so I'm making him a Hagrid costume that will blow all the kids away. They'll think the real actor, Robby Coltrane is really there when I'm finished.
And my Professor McGonagall is going to be pretty awesome too, if I do say so myself. Now I just have to practice my Scottish accent.
Kids will be talking about my son's Harry Potter birthday party for the next year.
We probably wouldn't be going this far out though if the movie was still coming out this November, but my child was so upset he would have to wait until next summer. To an eleven year old, next summer sounds like an eternity.
If you're planning a Harry Potter themed party you've got to check out this website. www.best-halloween-recipes-ever.com. You'll be the hit of the party and possibly the coolest mom on the block!
