It is safer to carry travellers cheques than cash or you can try credit cards but don�t use these to draw out money, similarly check with your own bank before you depart to see how much they will charge for getting money out abroad. If you are carrying travellers cheques make sure you leave a copy of the serial numbers with a trusted family member or friend with the telephone number for the country you are staying in that you would need to call in the event of losing them or them being stolen.

Often people with villas will provide a welcome pack. This normally consists of some basics to help you get going before you get a chance to check out the local supermarket or restaurants. If you would prefer not to have a welcome pack you should tell the villa owner in advance, this may save you some money but do remember after travelling do you really want to be without the essentials?
