Four Signs That You Should Quit Your Job

Jeff Aulenbach

A lot of us get frustrated with our jobs, our bosses, our colleagues, or our workplaces. Sometimes the pressure and stress at work is hard to handle. But how do we know when we just need to take a deep breath or a vacation& or when we need to make a big change?

Quitting your job when you feel stressed at work isn't a decision you should make haphazardly. It can have a big impact on your life.

Here are some typical signs and symptoms that your stress level is so high at work that it may be time for you to say "I quit!"

Your Brain is Toast. You cant remember things. You have a hard time concentrating or thinking clearly. The quality of your work has fallen. Or you recognize that youre making poor judgments.

Youre Emotionally Exhausted. Youve lost your sense of humor and are moody. You have a short-temper and are easily agitated. You feel tense and on edge. Youre constantly unhappy.

Your Body is Trying To Tell You Something. You have gained or lost a significant amount of weight. You have frequent headaches, backaches or a stiff neck. Youve lost your sex drive. Youre sick a lot and the feeling of fatigue never goes away.

Your Behavior Has Changed. Youre eating more or less. Youre sleeping too much or too little. You use cigarettes, drugs or alcohol to relax. Youve isolated yourself from friends and family.

How do you decide when to take the leap and quit your job to pursue something you really want to do instead?

If your behavior or mental, physical or emotional health is telling you its time to quit, its a good idea to listen. Watch for these telltale signs of unhealthy levels of stress to help you make the big decision.
