How To Improve Safety of Baby Buggies & Pushchairs

Georgia O'Conner

Since its beginnings in Windsor in 2006 the Buggyboot has come a long way. Invented by two working mums from the UK, Charlotte Evans & Carolyn Jarvis, the main design function of this product was to take some of the strain off parents while shopping with a buggy or stroller. For some people the new Buggyboot could be considered as nothing more than a big old bag that rest's on a buggy board (often called a ride-on) at the back of your pushchair. This description however would miss out a lot of the fantastic features and forward-thinking this product has and wouldn't show how it can be used to help a lot of parents daily.

Now this won't go for to everyone, but a few may recognize the scenario. You're out one day shopping with your children or child. As you visit one shop after another the number of bags getting hooked over the handles of your babies' buggy is ever increasing. Now the most of the time this will never cause any problems but it may only take 1 second for you to let go of the pushchair to do something else, like pay for the shopping, only to see your shopping, buggy and more importantly your baby all tip over onto the floor? If this has ever happened to you you'll know how frightening it can be.

Dangling bags from the handles of a buggy isn't just awkward, it also poses a safety risk as the buggy will become unstable and may tip over. Buggyboot provides the answer for parents who want to keep their hands free and who also understand the need to avoid 'buggy-clutter'. Now lets get this clear the Buggyboot is the strong and sturdy reinforced bag that allows you to put your shopping in as well has having a place to store a shopping basket while you walk about the shops. To be used properly however you will need a buggy board or ride-on to rest the Buggyboot on.

The system can be purchased as a unit called The Buggyboot Plus, but the bag can also be used with most buggy boards already on the market. On its own its recommended that the Buggyboot is used with pushchairs not greater than 39cm wide but the Buggy boot Plus can be used with pushchairs up to 47cm wide.

The mums are so confident about their product they took part in a television show in the UK called the Dragons Den. This show allows entrepreneurs and inventors a chance to pitch their product to a panel of successful and wealthy business owners who are looking to invest some of their money into the next big thing.

The proud creators of the Buggybooot were delighted when one of the 'Dragons' showed interest in the product. In fact by the end of their sales pitch the two mums had secured a partnership with Deborah Meadan. Deborah said that "They [Charlotte & Carolyn] had designed, developed and produced a product which they could demonstrate demand for". If you have ever seen this TV show, or one like it, you will know that the show is set up more for the empowerment of the 'Dragons' than the success of its 'contestants'. A compliment from any of the Dragons there is a rare occurrence but to get financial help and mentoring from them is even more rare, so the mums done good!
