Caloundra Accommodation filling fast for Caloundra Music Festival

Brendan Fitzgerald

Dont forget to book your Caloundra Accommodation for the Caloundra Music Festival in October 2009. Watermark Resort in Caloundra offers some great apartment choices right on the beach, close to all the action. Book you accommodation now or you will be disappointed, rooms are filling very fast!

The bustling community village that draws huge crowds during the Caloundra Music Festival is now calling for artists, performers, businesses, community groups and schools to take part in this year’s festival.

The Village, which offers free entry to the public, runs alongside the main music festival from 23 to 25 October and will bring a blast of Coast culture to the Kings Beach foreshore. Local bands, cultural performers, interactive workshops, kids’ activities and rides, market and food stalls, roving entertainment and a community beach parade are some of the free events and activities to be run on the site.

Local bands, artists and performers are encouraged to apply to perform at The Village in front of the expected crowd of 15,000 festival-goers.

Organisers are also calling for businesses, community groups and schools to join in partnerships for projects including:

* Stages * Workshops * Parade * Art on display * Funky Forest kids area * Beach-side carnival * Markets and food stalls * Rides

In the lead-up to the festival, Sunshine Coast Council is staging community forums across the Coast to showcase partnerships and invite ideas from community members, groups and businesses.

An example of a partnership could involve a business providing resources for lantern making. A community group could then apply to engage professional lantern makers. The lantern makers would then work with the community group and with local schools to make the lanterns. At the festival, the school or community group can charge a gold coin donation and make an income from their participation.

Getting involved offers great benefits and opportunities – schools and young people can gain first-hand project and event management experience; and businesses and community organisations can grow their profile and gain exposure to a wide audience at the festival.
