Article writing secrets for the successful writer

Stan Ashton

Every job has its secrets, which are well guarded by the professionals in the field. To be successful you should know these secrets and use them well. Writing articles is no exception. There are many article writing secrets that anyone who wants to excel in writing articles should know. The most interesting thing about these article writing secrets is that they are mostly the very basic things that get ignored by those who are looking for information.

Your content must be rich

The first article writing secret is that you should provide rich content in your articles. The content in your articles should be concise and to the point. Readers are looking for information to solve a problem. The faster the information is provided, the better. There are many other people with the same information. The only way to keep your reader is to give him/her what he/she wants.

Research your topics

The second article writing secret is research. The reader is not interested in what everybody knows about. They want further knowledge. The good writer should be able to research about topics in order to provide in-depth information to the reader. If you don't have enough knowledge, don't rush and write. Even for the very common topics, you need to research to find out what others have discovered.

Plan before you write

The third article writing secret is a good plan. Articles are like buildings. Just as you cannot build a house without first making a plan, you cannot write articles without first planning how it should look like. You should determine the length of the article before you start writing. You should know the points you will be discussing in the various paragraphs. You should even determine the number of paragraphs right from the beginning.

Use subheading

The use of subheadings is another article writing secret. Every paragraph should have a subheading. It is also possible to have two paragraphs under one subheading, especially when one paragraph is getting too long. The average length of most article paragraphs published on the web should be about 75 words. If the paragraph is getting beyond 100 words it should be divided into two.

Your language must be good

Good language is yet another article writing secret. You should have a good command over the language in which you write. There are many articles on the web in such abysmal language that you wonder if anyone goes beyond the titles.

Avoid article generation software

Another article writing secret, which is related to language is editing and proofreading. Read over your articles and correct the mistakes before you post it. Your word processor should have enough tools to help you with this. Don't be in a rush to publish. It is advisable that you wait for at least a day before you do your proofreading.

The last article writing secret you should know is that you must avoid article generation software. They will never give you any good content. It is better to have one good article under your name than have ten bad ones all over the place.
