Ten tips to boost your subscribers list instantly – List building strategies for newbies

The beauty of internet marketing – especially Affiliate Marketing is that you can sell whatever you would like and promote the programs or products / services you feel are worth the effort. As with all marketing strategy we have to first find the people to market to though, and that is the hardest thing about being an affiliate marketer. Finding the people who are ready to buy the product /service you have got to offer is not always that easy. Even harder when you are just starting up with online marketing and don't know the channels you can reach people. I am going to give you advice on building up a long-term channel for yourself, your autoresponder or e zine service that can safely and legally deliver your message to the right people.

List building strategy No 1 : Research your niche. Before you decide to sell a product, research the market, where are other marketers trying to reach potential customers / subscribers. Read niche blogs, study strategies and look around on advertising websites for advertisements that relate to similar products /services like yours. Check the Alexa Rankings of the sites you think your potential customers are visiting.

List building Strategy No 2: Get yourself an autoresponder.(if you haven't already done so) and paste the subscribe button on your website (not only your capture page, but the main page, too, if not the full form, just a link) Paste the code on your blogs, comments, forum comments, email signatures.

List building Strategy No 3: Create a Squeeze page (a page that asks for some basic information and gains permission for contacting the person in email) within your website and instead of sending people on the main page, send them to a squeeze page. Put your autoresponder code on the bottom of the page and offer incentives for subscription. List building strategy No 4: Test your squeeze pages. Test which squeeze page converts the best and always replace the “losers” with the winners. It is very important to get the most out of your advertising and list building offers.

List building strategy No. 5 Always use double opt-in process, that avoids SPAM complaints and makes people feel that they have an option to opt out of the list any time. This strategy is not only legal but builds up trust.

List Building strategy No 6 : Always keep your promise. If you offer a download for subscribing send the link in the first email right after the confirmation, even if the download site is is set up as a return URL after the confirmation page. You can never be sure that the subscriber's browser didn't crash after the confirmation, or lost internet connection. And it is just nice to send an email like this: “ Thank you for subscribing for our services. Looking forward to delivering your free reports in your inbox. Please white-list our email address to make sure our updates will reach your inbox. In case you couldn't download your gift, here is your direct download link again”.

List building strategy No 7: “Legally steal” other people's subscribers. If you are using safelist marketing or text ad exchanges, traffic exchanges, all you are trying to do is to steal the site's subscribers and place them on your own list. You have to be very careful, because hundreds or not thousands of other people are trying to do the same. You have to be really special to make people so interested that they would stop and fill out the form.

List building strategy No 8: Create excitement! Use unusual graphics, sound or audio recording, videos to create excitement. You have to try very hard to grab people's attention who are facing hundreds of ads daily. Even if you are advertising an affiliate program, and you know that other people are advertising the same capture page as you all over the place, try to change. Create personalized pages with an autoresponder code, because if a person is not interested in your program, they can still become subscribers or later buy other products from you.

List building strategy No 9: Brand yourself! Do you know why are super-affiliates so successful? Because people remember them. They are branding themselves. Tip: Put a photo or a special graphic on your capture page so that people will remember you next time they will come across your site. Remember: Repetition is the key. Research shows: if you are advertising on text ad exchanges it takes an average of 6 impressions to build up the trust and make one submit their details on your page. Create a personal story or headline people will remember you.

List building strategy No 10: Never abuse your list! So many online marketers make this mistake that it hurts! The person who subscribed to your list trusts you enough to give you their name and email address. Don't misuse it! Never give out, swap or rent personal details. Also if your subscribers will only see sales pages in your emails they will unsubscribe very soon. You have to find the balance between content and advertising. You can keep your subscribers' trust if you are giving them more value than they expected. Give them good relevant and useful content. Build up their brand-awareness and keep it high. You don't have to send them a 89-page e book in every email, it can be only a link to a useful resource or your blog post you think they could use.
