Six Simple Steps to help Eliminate Neck arm and shoulder pain
If you’ve ever suffered from intense pain in the neck, shoulder or upper back you know that it can make getting through the day extremely difficult because there are so many things we do that require our arms and head.
Here’s what we’ve found to work the best in my Chiropractic office in Phoenix Arizona
1. If brought on by an accident, as quickly as possible take Arnica.
Arnica is a homeopathic remedy that works very well when taken right after injury and they even make small vials of pellets you can keep on you. You should be able to get Arnica at any health food store
2. Reduce the inflammation as quickly as possible.
There are many things you can do to reduce the inflammation. You can use ice for the first 24-48 hours. Ice to the neck and or the shoulder should be done in the following manner. Ice for 15 minutes; rest for 15 minutes; Ice for 15 minutes. Frequency is the secret not the length of time. Also high dose Vitamin C will help be sure to take the ascorbate form as not to cause tongue swelling or loose bowels.
3. Eliminate muscle spasms and relieve tight, stiff muscles
Muscles in spasms can wreak havoc on your body and what many people don’t realize is your muscles can be in several grades or states of muscular spasm. All spasms do not have to be so intense that you are in agonizing pain. Meaning the spasm isn’t intense enough for you to notice but while mild it can still pull your body out alignment and cause other problems.
4. Ensure your mindset is programmed for recovery
Believe it or not, your mind… how you think, what you feel, etc all plays a MAJOR role in your ability to heal and recover. And if you don’t believe it, I challenge you to do some research and see what you discover. But in the meantime, just remember that you must tell yourself that you WILL overcome this and you must believe it.
5. Identify and address your muscle imbalances
Whether your pain was caused by an accident or not, you have imbalances… we all do and the worse they are the more likely they are to create conditions and cause pain.
6. Identify and address your spinal column
And before you try to say “my condition was caused by ______” let me remind you that regardless of what you may have been diagnosed with and what you have been told, or what you believe caused it, I can promise you that spinal and muscular imbalances ARE a factor. In fact, I’m willing to bet that they are a BIGGER factor than you may think and that once you start to address them you WILL start to see improvements. To do this properly you should seek the care of a competent Chiropractor.
