Outdoor Playsets: 5 Reasons They Make an Excellent Addition to Your Home
James Druman
Have you been considering outdoor playsets as an intelligent addition to your home? There are many great models to choose from in this day and age, and on any budget. You can get some really sophisticated equipment now, and they can really be as big as the imagination can bear.
Here are 5 reasons outdoor playsets make a great addition to the home.
1. Get Kids Outside
Who doesn't get tired of seeing kids these days lounging on the couch? Watching TV. Playing video games. Heck—a lot of them can barely put down the cell phones—kids with cell phones! It's like kids aren't even kids anymore.
When I was a kid, my mom used to turn us out into the fields in front of our country home and we'd spend the whole day running around, building forts, wrestling in the dirt, or even just laying back in the grass and staring at the clouds.
Okay, so we were country bumpkins, and we came home covered in dirt, but we never came home with a scrape we couldn't handle. Maybe you live in a populated area and don't have the luxury of fields stretching in front of your house. A playset can get kids outside breathing fresh air so they are at least not on the couch all day.
2. Get Kids Active
On a similar note, outdoor playsets inspire activity. Yep, that's right—actual human activity is still a possibility in these modern times. And it's still just as good for your kids as it ever was.
3. Keep the Kids at Home
A small playground is a great way to keep your kids at your house. Kids tend to want to wander off and explore. Run amuck and cause havoc—I know I did. But believe me, keep a playset in your backyard, and they aren't likely going anywhere. Chances are you'll end up having the whole neighborhood hanging out at your house every day.
4. Might Improve Home Value
One aspect you might not have considered about having something like this is it might actually improve the value of your home, and if anything, it will make for a comparably quick resale in any market. An outdoor playset is very attractive to buy to the family homeowner. Of course, be sure that the rest of your home is attractive to a family homeowner, because it can also be a reason not to buy for a bachelor who is just looking for a party pad.
5. Bring Back the Old Days
One of the most underrated aspects of having a playset in your backyard is the nostalgia. Maybe I'm a sentimental chap, but walking outside and sitting on a swingset brings my youth flooding back.
Don't get too crazy on it—especially if it's a small set. You're not the size you used to be. This might not be a reason to buy a playset in itself, but it is worth a mention.
