8 Reasons You Should Not Use the Proven System

Dan Lambeth

When you went to the network marketing meeting, did that heavy hitter tell you to just follow the "proven system"? Did he then explain how you just need to build yourself a "warm list" (limited personal contact list), buy extra product to "place" with prospects, attend and bring friends to hotel meetings, give home parties, get some business cards to hand out,buy company literature, and get flyers made to hand out at the mall?

If these are the components of the "proven system", or business plan, it is a broken down, oil leaking, rusty system made up of outdated methods and faulty techniques that have caused the terrible numbers of a 97% failure rate in this industry. What is even worse is, aside from being ineffective; it can actually kill your chances of success and ruin your personal relationships.

Besides causing lots of people to despise the whole industry, the "proven system" will definitely cause you to run most of your friends away. Considering that it is an inherently good and morally correct business, it is a shame about the reputation because it is a great concept of selling direct and cutting out the middle men.

Helping others find success is the only way to make any real money and those who help the most people are the real leaders. These 8 reasons are referring to the methods taught by most of the MLM companies out there and they do work but only for a small percentage of people.

1. Most prospects are lied to about the true nature of the business. Network marketing is SALES and to succeed you will have to learn marketing.

2. There is no proper marketing training given to any of the new distributors and in fact the methods taught are mostly ineffective.

3. The most common sales methods taught are annoying "door to door", street corner, or telemarketing type tactics that are a lot like banging your prospects over the head with your business opportunity.

4. The much used line about how anyone can do this business is a lot like throwing mud against a wall to see what will stick and causes people to chase after nonprospect's which is a waste of time and causes the negative reputation most people have about the industry.

5. With the terrible success rate for those without a salesman's personality type many people get desperate to make money and will resort to exaggeration and hype in order to mislead prospects into joining.

6. Too many sponsors use the "need more motivation" or belief excuse for failure instead of concentrating on solid, fundamental, proper marketing techniques.

7. Prospects are led to believe it will be easy to build their business and are guaranteed of success on the strength of an unbeatable product and an awesome compensation plan.

8. Sign-ups are advised that EVERYONE is a prospect which means millions of people have had the daylights pestered out of them and have become enemies of the whole industry.

Nobody with experience in marketing would ever try to sell to someone who has no interest, much less, chase after those who already hate the industry. The key to success in this business is to use a marketing plan or system that allows customers or interested opportunity seekers to find you not the other way around.

Think about it! If you are chasing folks about your opportunity you are considered a nuisance. But if those who are looking, do their search, and find you because you were positioned correctly, now you are seen as an expert or leader. People don't like to be "sold" to because they don't want to feel as if something is being forced on them.

If you use those "old school" methods for recruiting and they don't work and your sponsor tells you that you need more motivation or a bigger "why" he is really saying you need to do MORE of what isn't working. How do you really think that is going to work?

It would be like having the absolute best tasting hamburgers ever but everyone you can find has just left an endless buffet table. If no one is hungry you will not be able to sell any of them. You need a plan that will put you in position where those that are interested can find you and an automatic system that will weed out the tire kickers and consistently supply you with interested prospects so your time will be productive.
