Guide to Internet Marketing: Successful Article Marketing
Jim Kernan
WHY USE ARTICLE MARKETING?
Article marketing is one of the first things that you can do to establish yourself as knowledgable individual in your field. No matter if it is your first or 1,000th article that is published on the web, it is important to establish credibility. Not to say that your first piece is the one that is going to catapult you to a lifetime of success, but it is the beginning of showing that you can provide valuable information. This is one of the biggest points in any marketing techinque - ADD VALUE. You don't have to reinvent the wheel, but concise thoughts show understanding. In parallel, the Internet is a community of sharing; in fact, the entire purpose for the development of the web was to have people be able to communicate more efficiently. Also, the article that you post is not going to disappear, and adding links to and from each individual article will show your understanding of the web and possibly lead a reader down the road to the piece that will ultimately help them make the decision to work with you.
Really there are 2 reasons that article marketing is important for successful internet marketing. The first, as previously discussed is credibility. Either the individual who comes across your article on the web will see you in the position of authority, or when a prospect is researching you, the content that they find when they search for you will help to show that you are a good individual to do business with.
The second reason is for Search Engine Optimization. This subject will be covered in greater detail further in the series, but ultimately the more quality content you have on the web, the more likely people are going to come across it. And, as we all know, the more eyes on your material, the more likely you will drive business.
WHAT SHOULD I WRITE ABOUT?
The limits to ideas for articles are endless. When you are first starting out, it is best to write about material that is relevant to how you got started in the industry. For me, it was looking into a home based business. People looking for a home based business are the individuals that I felt most confident that I could add value to, so I geared information toward them. The basic principle was to start answering the questions that they had, or that I thought they should have, so when doing research for opportunities there was a chance that they would come across some of my articles. This same principle can be used across any topic. As you and your business grows, you can continue to write about the experience and things you uncover, because undoubtedly someone behind you will have the same question. The one thing to note here is the importance of UNIQUE content. Do not simply repackage something that someone else has written. Do a little outside of the box thinking and be creative, do some research and pull in interesting studies, and add some flavor to the material.
