Italians have always been known for their great food. They are most known for their very delicious pasta. But aside from pasta, they are also known for their very cold and delicious treats which they call Italian ice. If you want to try to make your own cold delights the Italian way, here are some recipes for you to enjoy.
Basic
What you will need:
2 cups of water, 1 cup of orange, lemon, or pineapple 1 and ¼ cups of sugar, and a maraschino cherry to garnish
Follow these steps:
Mix sugar and water first and then use a saucepan to boil them. Make sure that you continually stir the mixture until you don't see any crystals of sugar anymore. Once sugar is completely dissolved, let it cool. Get the juice that you have prepared and then add it in the mixture gradually. After that, transfer it in a container then pop it in the freezer. Wait for about 4 hours. Make sure that you check it regularly and try stirring it until you see that it is completely frozen. Once it is frozen, you are now ready to serve the treat.
Fruit Juice
What you will need:
2 cups of any type of sugar, 2 cups of your favorite juice and 4 cups of distilled water or tap water.
Steps:
Using a saucepan, mix 4 cups of water and sugar. Let it boil and make sure that you stir it constantly until sugar crystals are no longer visible. Wait for about 5 minutes and then let it cool. After that, you can now add your favorite juice in the mixture and then put it in a container and pop it in the freezer. Stir occasionally until frozen completely. Serve.
Making Fruit Punch
Needed:
A bottle of sprite or 7 up soda, a bottle of fruit punch preferrably chilled, 3-5 Italian ice of your favorite flavors.
Steps:
In a container, mix fruit punch and sprite or 7-up. Then let the Italian Ice float on top. Serve.
Lemon
Ingredients:
Approximately ¾ pounds of granulated sugar, 1 pint of clean water, 3 large ripe lemons, approximately ½ teaspoon of grated lemon peel.
Steps:
Combine water, lemon peel and sugar in a saucepan and let it boil. Simmer uncovered for 10 minutes then remove from heat and set it aside. Squeeze the lemons and if there are seeds, remove them.
