Your auto transport company should insure your vehicle against damage and theft. However, to protect yourself and your vehicle, you should:
1) Ask for a copy of their current insurance coverage. 2) Determine if the carrier's insurance is primary or secondary to your own insurance in the event of any damage during car transport. 3) Learn if there is a damage deductible, and if so, how much is it? While the auto transport company should cover any deductibles, a higher deductible is a slightly higher risk for you.
While most companies will give you accurate information, it is a good idea to verify all insurance coverage in writing.

Many auto transport companies discourage or prohibit you from leaving personal articles in your vehicle, since their insurance does not cover personal items and most are not licensed to transport household items.
In addition, overloading your trunk with heavy items may result in damage to your vehicle's undercarriage when it is being loaded or unloaded. And, your auto transport company is unlikely to cover damage in that instance. Therefore, it is best to not include any personal items in your vehicle.
