How to Grow Your Business
Catherine Trebble
A new business is just like a child-it takes time and money for it to grow. No one starts life off as an adult. And no business starts off as huge and successful from day one.
There is an old saying that says "It takes money to make money." When it comes to starting your own business, this statement is usually true. Although some businesses require more money to get started than others, there will be some form of business expenses involved when you first start out and it will take time to earn income from your business and profit from it.
For every penny you spend in creating your business, the more likely you are to make money from it. That doesn't mean that you need to put every penny back into your business. It just means that you need to expect to have some business expenses to run your business successfully. You also need to keep a little aside for the quieter times for your business.

Although one of the benefits of being your own boss is that you can set your own hours, it often takes more than the standard eight hours a day to run your own business, especially when you're figuring out your routine and how it all fits together. When you've achieved some measure of success you'll be in a position to consider outsourcing the more routine elements of your business, such as bookkeeping.

Janis proved to be worth much more than I was paying her as she worked out how to save me money by adjusting various little things I was doing in my business.
If, due to your current circumstances, self-employment is not an option for you right now but you have a dream of doing it someday, you can work towards that goal. It's all a matter making a plan and putting one foot in front of the other.
