Online shopping is now the easiest way to collect Nectar points and with a couple of big high street names now joining the Nectar Loyalty card scheme, Nectar is above the rest and become the biggest loyalty scheme available in the UK. Sainsbury's claims that more people now have a Nectar card than have a Tesco Clubcard or Boots Advantage card.
How the Nectar Loyalty Card Works Shoppers can claim two points worth 0.5p each for every pound they spend at Sainsbury's or one point for every litre of fuel bought at BP service stations. The card is free and customers have to register online. Then customers can simply shop to earn points and you can shop at online stores and pick up nectar points too.
Once you have collected your Nectar points you can redeem the cash equivalent of Nectar points against your shopping at any of the participating Nectar family outlets. So you could get money off a meal at Beefeater, or money off your car service at a Ford garage, or you could save money on your next washing machine or Dyson Ball Vacuum with Argos.
Reward programs tend to vary based on the line of business the branded organization is into. For example, an airline will look to offer travel rewards, while a big-time shopping mall should have something going towards the direction of a merchandise rewards program. Rewards include money off shopping, travel and general merchandise.
Retailers are also able to utilise direct marketing tactics from this data by sending customers information through the post on products that think would specifically appeal to that individual. Which means no only do you save money against purchases by redeeming Nectar Points against products, but they may also send you money saving coupons in the post.
Online you can log in to your own nectar account and check the balance on your card and find out what new offers are available. You can even download the new Nectar card I-phone app onto your I-phone which enables you to get the latest offers and view shops in your vicinity which are accepting nectar points.
If you have teenagers going off to university then the Nectar card can be a great way to save up a bit of cash for while they are away. The card can then be redeemed at Sainsburys and other shops to buy food, magazines, stationary and other items.
